La Bottega del Buon Caffe: Michelin-starred on the Arno

gastronomy

Contemporary cuisine faithful to local traditions by the young chef Antonello Sardi, who received his first Michelin star in 2015, is the delight here.

The name is misleading for this spectacular restaurant, which left the Via Pacinotti to settle on the banks of the Arno, in the dynamic Oltrarno neighbourhood. A Danish couple, Claus and Jeanette Thottrup, the owners of the wonderful Borgo Santo Pietro hotel in the Tuscan countryside, have devised an elegant bistro that is the perfect foil for the high-fashion gastronomy of Antonello Sardi.

The Florentine chef learned his craft alongside, among others, the chef Enrico Bartolini at Devero in Lombardy. He regales the palate with traditional dishes prepared with products from the Thottrup's farm. In a friendly atmosphere, menus of four, six, or eight dishes are offered. Don't miss the coleslaw with pancetta and horseradish powder, or the braised lamb shoulder, accompanied by a Jerusalem artichoke and yogurt sauce. Both perfectly represent the fresh, light touch of this new culinary star.
