Jardin Malanga: a colonial house in the volcano's shadow

charm

A charming nine-room hotel in the south of Basse-Terre, the Jardin Malanga is a sanctuary of peace where time seems to stand still.

Nestled at the foot of the Madeleine volcano in a natural setting, the hotel is a gem where calm and tranquillity reign. The main house is a former colonial residence, built in 1927, dressed in brown wood, like its big veranda and balconies in saltires or St. Andrew's cross, typical of Caribbean architecture.

Furnished in colonial style, the house has two bedrooms upstairs and a suite on the ground floor. The other rooms, hidden in the greenery in the three Creole bungalows, are as charming and romantic as one could wish. The small house has two bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, with a terrace for each. Listening to the sounds of nature, nestled comfortably in your hammock is a delight, as is admiring the large infinity pool overlooking the ocean and Les Saintes.

Dining options include breakfast served by the pool and, for dinner, the guest table featuring locally sourced products, it is excellent. A must for a romantic getaway.
