Irene, in the Savoy: the Florentine bistro of Fulvio Pierangelini

The genius of Italian cuisine, the executive chef of the Rocco Forte group, has made the Savoy an unmissable stop for discerning gourmets.

This splendid five-star hotel has a new look: 1950s decor, very vintage and colourful, designed by Olga Polizzi, the director of Rocco Forte Hotels design. The renovated Irene is inventive and accessible to all, with a terrace on the Piazza della Repubblica. In the kitchen, under the leadership of the whimsical Fulvio Pierangelini, Giovanni Cosmai works with only the freshest and most fragrant produce in all of Tuscany.

Sunday is a ‘lunch de la nonna' (grandmother) of roast chicken. Other dishes include fish tartare and vegetable sorbet, ravioli stuffed with tomato pulp, stracciatella soup with lemon and parmesan, taglioni with beans and Tillo ewe cheese, all served with olive oil from San Vincenzo, where Fulvio had his restaurant Gambero Rosso, once the most famous restaurant in the world.
