Hollywood Museum: unique in the world for its diversity

museum

Original collections of costumes, posters, and personal effects celebrate the history of American cinema and its stars.

A true archive of the silver screen, this museum tells the story of the seventh art chronologically, from silent films to modern movies. There are over 10,000 costumes, autographs, posters, and accessories recovered from major Hollywood productions.

Film buffs will love the behind-the-scenes material, especially the tributes to actors who have died tragically. Scattered throughout are gems like the Superman costume worn by Christopher Reeve, Sylvester Stallone's boxing gloves from Rocky, and Marilyn Monroe's dress in The Seven Year Itch.

The glamorous Marilyn is particularly well represented, with a masterful exhibition of unreleased recordings, clothes, photographs, and other official documents. In the room reserved for recent films, costumes for the French film The Artist are among those in the spotlight.
