Hollywood Historic Hotel, closer to the stars

hot tip

Hollywood celebrities have patronised this hotel since it opened in 1927. Its charm is delightfully old-fashioned.

With its red brick Georgian architecture, the former Hollywood Melrose Hotel, built in 1927 and a heritage-status building, is part of the mythic landscape of the ‘City of Angels'. Completely restored to the original, the lobby and public areas sparkle with their beautiful mouldings, chandeliers and chairs covered in silk. The decor is more restrained in the rooms, and a little bit vintage. Comfort is optimal with extra-thick mattresses, flat-screen televisions, minibar and coffeemaker. The last two are always welcome as the hotel does not serve breakfast. The neighbourhood, although somewhat eccentric, is full of small cafes. What a good start before visiting the most famous movie studios, including the Paramount just steps away.
