G Rough Hotel: vintage luxury Italian style

designer hotel

Near Piazza Navona, the G Rough Hotel is a unique place that pays tribute to the years of ‘La Dolce Vita' in a refined and near-obsolete alchemy of retro-chic and comfort.

There is something Fellini-esque in all ten of the hotel suites here.

‘Hotel' is also not a satisfactory term to define this unconventional setting of Italian luxury, a vintage temple that carefully guards within its walls the most beautiful examples of 1930s to 1960s Italian design. Each suite pays homage to one the great artists of the Italian 20th-century design: Ico Parisi, Guglielmo Ulrich, and Gio Ponti among them. The original works create a decor that is both joyous and nostalgic. Like the stripped walls, returned to their initial roughness, the unique atmosphere of this place is sometimes decrepit, sometimes out-dated, but never faded. Come here to taste luxury in the raw, yet in an exceptionally comfortable setting made of Venetian mirrors, parquets and tiled floors, terraces with views of the dome of Sant'Agnese in Agone, and spectacular bathrooms with mirrors tiles that reflect the surrounding scenery in an infinite kaleidoscope.

From the hall, the tone is set: there is no reception area, just a stylish bar in golden and copper tones a resplendent portico into this museum of Italian design.
