Explore Takamaka Valley

exploration

A subtle blend of primordial nature and tropical oasis in one of the rainiest places in the world.

The Takamaka Valley in eastern Réunion is in the municipality of Saint Benedict. You can get there along the Marsouin River where fabulous hiking awaits the more athletic.

Considered one of the wettest places on earth, the Takamaka Valley has a hydroelectric dam upstream of five waterfalls: Arc-en-Ciel, Surplomb, Petit and Grand Gingembre and Petit Cimetière. Its lush vegetation, extensive rivers, spectacular waterfalls of several hundred metres and towering rocky peaks make this idyllic place a veritable Olympus.

Peaking at over 800 metres, Takamaka Valley offers a wondrous perspective where you have the opportunity, when skies are clear, of seeing the impressive Piton des Neiges and the incredible Mafate Cirque.
