Breathe in the bustling energy of the city's fish market, an emblematic place frequented daily by every Panamanian family. Slalom between the stalls where freshly caught fish and shellfish are exhibited, and let yourself be transported by the noises, odours, and exotic ambience.
Open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the atmosphere constantly changes throughout the day. Intensity is at its peak early in the morning when the fishing boats unload their goods in front of stunned visitors. Whatever the time, let yourself be tempted by some ceviche there is no better anywhere. Generally, this raw fish dish is made with corvina fish, but here they also use red snapper. The seasoning is always extremely simple: lime juice and coriander leaves, so as not to distort the flavour too much.
A small portion only costs the equivalent of about $2.50 (USD). Some cevicherias have outdoor tables and chairs if you want to settle in for full meal.
