Dali Courtyard: charming traditional houses

Located near Nanluoguxiang and Ghost Street, a restaurant hidden inside a ‘hutong'.

Dali offers a unique menu featuring specialities from Yunnan, a south-western province of China. About 15 dishes are brought to your table, like mushrooms sautéed with ginger, garlic shrimp or grilled tofu. Everything is seasoned with the flavours of this region that borders Vietnam, Laos, and Burma—that is to say, chillies and lemongrass. The garden, central to the restaurant, overlooks several rooms whose small size emphasizes the restaurant's confidential atmosphere. The music is soft and the sound of the fountain lulling. In summer, the light breeze that blows in the garden makes Dali one of the most enjoyable places to be. For dinner under the majestic trees or glass roof, book ahead, as the restaurant is very popular.
