Cologne Carnival

Published on 06-16-2016 Agenda

A flamboyant carnival at the heart of Cologne.

Celebrated for more than 2,000 years, the Cologne Carnival is a true institution that people do not want to miss under any circumstances, having renamed the street carnival “the crazy days”.

Just like every year, it starts on Rose Monday, this time on February 27, 2017, with a series of masked balls, parade floats and colourful fanfares. On Mardi Gras the following day, the event will go on with traditional dances reserved for twirling music and dance lovers.

It will end on March 1st, also known as Ash Wednesday, with fish being served in all the restaurants in Cologne. Please note that most events will take place on the Heumarkt Place and in the town historic centre.
