Casa Mosquito: authenticity and magic away from the city hubbub

charm

A few metres from the beaches of Copacabana, a hidden and intimate hotel at the entrance of a favela.

Six years ago, two Frenchmen, Benjamin Cano and Louis Planès, having discovered the sandy beaches of Rio de Janeiro, fell in love with a 1940s villa perched on the hill between Copacabana and Ipanema, just at the entrance to the peaceful favela Cantagalo-Pavão-Pavãozinho.

Within a few years they had successfully converted the villa into their family home. A charming mix of bossa and elegance, Casa Mosquito opens onto a large living-dining room decorated with books, paintings, and jacaranda furniture, as well as objects from famous designers like Philippe Starck, Sergio Rodriguez, and the Bouroullec brothers. In addition to stunning views of the Bay of Rio and Sugarloaf, you'll appreciate the nine suites, each decorated with antique souvenirs from around the world.

The highlight of this address is the ‘222 Club', a building created from scratch behind the house and accessed by funicular, with rooms and a rooftop swimming pool, perfect for a drink or a musical evening.
