Cartagena de Indias: an undisputed beauty

heritage & culture

A jewel of the past whose appearance has not changed for centuries.

Known as the ‘Pearl of the Caribbean', this phantasmagorical city is located in northern Colombia. After only an hour flight, you will find one of the first cities built in Latin America by the Spaniards, with its aristocratic neighbourhoods, popular streets, its exuberant architecture, colour scheme, and ornamentation. This is indeed where the galleons headed for Andalusian ports filled their holds with gold and emeralds. The picturesque buildings, perfect cathedrals, and colonial architecture create an unequalled historical atmosphere.

With its 17th-century forts, pastel-coloured houses, balconies overflowing with bougainvillea, and magnificent churches built by the Spanish, you will feel as though you have arrived in a novel by Gabriel Garcia Márquez. The white sandy beaches and clean warm water are another bonus to this charming city. The most pleasant and interesting city of Colombia is also one of the safest in the country.
