Borchardt Restaurant

classic

Berlin's VIP eatery.

Open since 1992 in the new city centre, this trendy brasserie attracts a host of A-listers like Robert De Niro, Madonna, Leonardo Di Caprio, and Barack Obama, plus their counterparts in German politics, media, and culture. The golden columns, red velvet curtains, statues, mosaics, and stucco ceilings give a quaintly out-dated atmosphere to this ultra-trendy address.

A true Berlin institution, it is famous for its Wiener Schnitzel, served with warm potato salad, considered the best in town, and always served with delicious side dishes like grilled artichokes with red peppers, beet salad with horseradish, creamy mashed celery, or cabbage with thyme.

In the day time, take advantage of the inner courtyard's terrace, weather permitting, of course.
