Be amazed at the San Juan Market

food-lover's tour

The city's biggest market at its historic core.

The market of San Juan, whose official name is ‘Ernesto Pugibet Market', has been in the heart of Mexico City for more than 150 years.

Originally very small in size, it has become the favourite meeting spot for gourmets in search of fine food and exotic ingredients, especially meats. You can find anything here: game, wild boar, quail, ducks, fish, and seafood.Check out La Jersey, one of the most popular stalls. While Perla and Celso fix your sandwich, enjoy some red wine and cheese samples. Next door, there is an indoor market with two floors selling pottery, tablecloths, and local crafts.

The San Juan Market is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
