It is said Martinez is the cradle of dry martini, and Joe DiMaggio's birthplace. It was also the sanctuary of John Muir, the environmentalist who contributed to creating national parks. Founded in 1849 at the gateway of the Delta, the city offers a beautiful waterfront, hiking trails, preserved architecture from the early 20th century, a marina and a gigantic skate park of more than 30,000 m2.
Late September, the Bay Area Blues Festival invades its historic centre. It is a perfect opportunity to walk the city, have beer, fine wine and gourmet tastings in local restaurants and bistros. Activities for children are also being offered, like street chalk paintings.
The program for this edition comprises many artists, among which are Terrie Odabi, Bobbie “Spider” Webb and The Smooth Blues, Caroompas and White, Buckaroo Bonet, Consonance Gospel, Pat Wilder Band, Kevin Patrick Radely, Tommy Bean Blues Band and West Coast Playboys.
