Ames: beautiful purity

design

Ames is a design hotel with soul. It is a daring but successful marriage of minimalist lines and poetry rooted in the building's history.

In the historic heart of Boston, the Ames hotel dominates the financial district. From its 1893 completion until 1915, it was the tallest building in the city and the headquarters of an agricultural equipment company. Now part of the Morgans Hotel Group, the Ames has made a successful transformation. The most beautiful parts of its history—the tiles and cast-iron staircase—now coexist brilliantly with vast pristine areas, blond-oak parquet flooring, sleek design furniture, and plenty of natural light streaming through large windows. All 114 rooms and suites overlook the Massachusetts capital. Cabinets of curiosities here and there bring a whimsical touch to the mix. (Note that the King Street Tavern is currently under renovation.)
