A hike on Le Morne and Pouce

sport & wellness

Though hiking may not be the first activity that comes to mind when you think of Mauritius, it has several beautiful trails.

Lace up your hiking shoes to tackle majestic le Morne Mountain. Le Morne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site whose challenges will not disappoint experienced sportsmen. Climbing the first 255 metres is easy, but do not cry victory too soon as the trail suddenly becomes steeper, and reaching the cross erected at 500 metres above sea level requires some effort.

If you are with your family, you may find Pouce an easier approach. At 812 metres, the 360-degree view of the island is a delight for both young and old. Mauritius, as a volcanic island, offers a magical landscape with beaches and lagoons stretching across the horizon. Such a view is an exceptional reward for the hours of effort.
